City of Lacombe council briefs

  1. Requests for Decision
    5.1 Bylaw 476–Central Alberta Regional Assessment Review Board
    Council gave first reading to Bylaw 476, which will replace Bylaw 456, thereby enabling the City’s membership in the joint Central Alberta Regional Assessment Review Board. The Board is comprised of partner municipalities providing a central mechanism for area citizens to appeal property assessment and tax notices.
    5.2 Sewage Lagoon Reclamation Plan Options
    Council directed Administration to amend the list of next steps in the draft reclamation plan for the old sewage lagoon site, and return the plan to the next Council meeting.
    5.3 Bylaw 405.1 & Bylaw 400.30 – Rezone Former Chamber of Commerce site Council gave first reading to Bylaw 405.1 and Bylaw 400.30, to support the creation of commercial lands for
    development at the former Chamber of Commerce site. Council then scheduled a public hearing for Bylaw 405.1 and Bylaw 400.30 at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, May 11, 2020.
    Council also scheduled a public hearing for removal of the reserve designation from part of Lot P at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, May 11, 2020.
    5.4 Bylaw 481 (Road Closure) to facilitate development for former Chamber of Commerce lands
    Council gave first reading to Bylaw 481, to close portions of road used as a service road along the south side of 50 Avenue to allow for consolidation with lands from Lot P, Block 50, Plan 3583NY to create parcel(s) for future commercial use and development.
    Council then scheduled a public hearing for Bylaw 481 at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, May 11, 2020.
    5.5 Economic Recovery Task Team
    Council accepted the economic recovery task team proposal for funding as information, and also allocated up to $20,000 worth of free rental of space at the Lacombe Memorial Centre in 2020 for Echo Lacombe’s Lacombe Economic Action Partnership (LEAP) initiative.
    5.6 Social Services Report
    Council accepted the report on social services in Lacombe during and after the COVID-19 pandemic as information, and then directed Administration to develop a terms of reference for a social resiliency task team for further consideration.

BYLAW NO. 1317/20 AND BYLAW NO. 1318/20 

Council gave first reading to Bylaw No. 1317/20, a bylaw of Lacombe County to amend the Lacombe County Land Use Bylaw No. 1237/17 as it relates to general regulations and district requirements. 

Bylaw No. 1318/20, a bylaw of Lacombe County to amend the Lacombe County Municipal Development Plan Bylaw No. 1238/17 as it relates to general regulations and district requirements, was given first reading by Council. 

A public hearing regarding Bylaw Nos. 1317/20 and 1318/20 will be held on July 9, 2020 commencing at 9:00 a.m.
