While the Alberta Government has moved up its Phase 2 of the provincial Relaunch Plan to June 12, the Kinsmen Aquatic Centre remains closed to the public due to temporary layoffs caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The city is working quickly to recall staff, design programming, and get the facility ready for public access,” said Director of Community Services Deborah Juch, “We hope to reopen pool on July 15 with limited programming; however, I am delighted to inform residents that the spray park will open the end of this month, with restrictions to ensure the health and safety of staff and patrons.”
The Lacombe Spray Park, located at the south side of the Kinsmen Aquatic Centre (5429 53 Street), will reopen open to the public on Monday, June 29. Operating hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends and statutory holiday.
The number of patrons allowed at the spray park will be limited, and physical distancing squares will be in place to help with appropriate social distancing. A separate entrance and exit will be in place to maintain one-way traffic flow.
Chairs and tables will not be provided by the City; patrons are advised to bring their own chairs, and to pack hand sanitizer along with their sunscreen. Please do not bring glass containers, water balloons, or sidewalk chalk into the spray park.
The facility will be cleared for disinfection at scheduled times throughout the day. The cleaning schedule will be posted online and outside the park entrance.
